This beginner class focuses on basic skating skills. Helmets are required, but no hockey sticks or pucks are allowed. Hockey skates are strongly recommended. Students in this class learn to skate forward on two feet, glide on one foot, and stop. The skater is eligible to advance to the Learn to Play Hockey program after successfully completing these requirements. We suggest Learn to Skate: Beginner Hockey for first-time skaters age six and under. Participants may pay for the entire ten week session or pay for each class individually. There will be no pro-rating of the session fee after the second Sunday of the class.

This intermediate class focuses on basic skating skills and introduces participants to intermediate skills. Helmets are required, but no hockey sticks or pucks are allowed. Hockey skates are strongly recommended. Students in this class learn forward and backward turns, how to skate backwards and how to execute a hockey stop. The skater is eligible to advance to the Learn to Play Hockey program after successfully completing these requirements. It is recommended that the skater starts in the Learn to Play: Beginner class before entering the Learn to Play: Intermediate class. Participants may pay for the entire ten week session or pay for each class individually. There will be no pro-rating of the session fee after the second Sunday of the class.
