RDV summer sports camps are offered by the half or full day and many include extended hour options to accommodate your busy summer lifestyle.

RDV has countless activities under one roof that will captivate your children all summer long. Whether you want to escape the summer heat with swimming, or embrace it with outdoor activities including tennis and team play, RDV houses it all in one convenient location!

Older kids refine their skills or learn new ones at specialized camps in aquatics and tennis. Want variety? Campers get active by playing different sports in Kid’s Stuff camps that include swimming, skills & drills, ice skating, floor hockey, group games and more.

Younger kids enjoy Mini Camp with swimming, water play, themed crafts, tumbling, tennis, music and more! With so many camps to choose from, your kids are guaranteed to have an exciting and ACTIVE summer!

KID’S STUFF CAMPS

Mini Camp / Ages 3-6

Swimming, tumbling, and tennis what more could a camper ask for? Mini Camp is the perfect opportunity for your child to spend the day. Activities vary from themed projects to aquatic play; there is never a dull moment! Please note campers must be three years of age, and toilet trained by the first day of the camp session in order to participate.

Friday Fitness Funshops / Ages 3+

If you are unable to commit to a full week of camp, check out Friday Fitness Funshops! These instructional workshops allow participants to swim, tumble and create crafts. A favorite activity is the giant waterslide that is assembled when weather permits. Please note that registration is required 24 hours in advance. Unfortunately, we are not able to accommodate walk in participants. Campers should bring a swim suit and wear tennis shoes (please no flip flops or crocs). A snack is provided during this camp time.

Kid’s Sports Camp / Ages 6-12

What could be more fun than scaling a rock climbing wall (ages 8+), scoring a goal in floor hockey and swimming freestyle? This camp is the ultimate in sports camps. Activities include basketball, tennis, ice skating and much more. Drills and group games are also used to improve skills in a fun and active environment. Please note that campers must be six years of age by the first day of the camp session.

RDV C.I.L.T. Program (Campers in Leadership Training) / Ages 13-17

RDV Sportsplex believes in building leaders in our community. The leadership program for teens 13-17 will provide opportunities to develop skills for working with young children. Training in proper communication techniques, CPR, first aid and safety are the pillars of this program. Leaders must apply and provide two letters of recommendation. Selected applicants will be notified by May 25, 2010 or as spaces permit. Please note limited space is available.

AQUATICS CAMPS

Stars Stroke Camp / Ages 6-16

During this camp, participants will learn and master four competitive strokes under the direction of our registered USA swimming coaches. One-on-one coaching and video analysis will aid in the detailed stroke and drill training over the course of the week. Campers will also become acquainted with the science, rules and regulations of competitive swimming. This camp strives to develop strength in and outside of the water through vigorous dry land training and endurance building swim sets. Please note, participants must demonstrate 25-meter freestyle with rhythmic breathing, 25-meter backstroke and knowledge of butterfly and breaststroke techniques.

Water Fun Camp / Ages 6-14

Experience what it is like to be part of an amazing race and aqua survivor in this all day water fun camp! During these activities, campers will learn to recognize an aquatic emergency and learn how to respond in a positive manner. This camp is designed for children not to only have fun in the water but to be safe! Please note participants must be able to swim the front crawl for one length of the pool continuously while breathing to the front or side. In addition, they must be able to tread water for one minute using arms and legs, and have the ability to submerge and swim a distance of 10 feet underwater.

Big Shots / Ages 4-5

This is the first level of our program, designed for very young children. Campers will play on a micro court and use foam balls and smaller racquets to ensure safety. During this week long camp, fun is of utmost importance while discovering new drills, game based scoring and basic skills of tennis.

QuickStart 1 / Ages 5-6

From under hand serves and basic techniques this camp is designed to introduce campers to the game of tennis and the necessary skills to play. This camp will focus on building skills with a partner. Perfecting skill based tasks, on a mini court, is one of the main goals of this week long camp.

QuickStart 2 / Ages 7-8
 

Basic competitions are introduced in this camp, both on the individual and team levels. While this camp is based on a mini court, over head serving, moderate techniques and continued development of tennis knowledge will be stressed.

QuickStart 3 / Ages 9-10

This camp is where the transition froma mini court to the full court begins. Defining skills from previous levels, building techniques for campers to exchange the ball deeper in to the court, and beginning the use of a full service motion will be main focuses of this camp.

Jr. Development / Ages 11-12

Jr. Development camps are designed for players to further develop rally skills and serves. Technical components will be broken down by each stroke to help better develop skills and the understanding of the game. Drills, games and competition are used in conjunction with strategy and scorekeeping lessons.

Tournament Tough / Ages 8+

Throughout the week this camp willemphasize “proper tennis effort,” alongwith creating a solid foundation of rallying skills. Introduction to the kick and power service motions will also be a main focus. Please note, this camp is designed for young players participating in USTA junior tournaments. Camp participation is based on ability and experience. Eligibility is subject to a Pro’s approval.

GENERAL INFORMATION

To receive member pricing, the CHILD must be an active member of the RDV Sportsplex Athletic Club. All campers must turn the appropriate age by the start of the particular camp session. Mini Campers must be potty-trained and be three years of age by the start date of the camp session.

Camper Registration

Registration forms, camper information forms and lunch menus (if applicable) are required for each camper. Summer camps run on weekly schedules, single days are not available. Advance registration is required for programs. However, aquatics and tennis programs will try to accommodate walk-in campers on Monday mornings. Unfortunately, Kid’s Stuff programs are unable to accept walk-in campers on Monday mornings as rosters are set and last minute additions would require changes to counselor groupings and desired ratios.

Required Items

Kid’s Stuff – campers should bring a swim suit and wear tennis shoes, please no flip-flops or crocs) Full day campers should bring long pants, sweaters, jackets and socks for ice skating on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays each week. 
Aquatics – campers will need at least one competitive bathing suit, goggles, beach towel and bathing cap (if desired). They also must bring dry land work out clothing including shorts, t-shirt, sneakers and socks.
Tennis – campers will need to bring sun-block, hat, and water bottle.

Food

Campers should bring their own lunch (refrigeration is not available) or register for the box lunch option through Bear Bites at the RDV Ice Den. Lunch for Mini Campers is $28for the 4-day week. Lunch for all other camps is $35 a week. The lunch option is only available on a full week basis. Lunch forms must be turned in by noon on each Friday before each new camp week begins. Please pack an extra snack and drink if your children are staying for Extended Day in Kid’s Stuff.

Check In / Check Out

All campers check-in and check-out through the blue iron gates in the parking lot to the left of the Main Entrance. Gates are open from 8:45-9:15am, from 1:00-1:15pm (for Mini Campers) and from 2:45-3:15pm. Late campers, Extended Day campers, and Campers in Leadership Training will check in/out through Kid’s Stuff. It is important that all campers are present no later than 9:30am as their groups will dismiss to different locations in the building. Campers’ arriving after 9:30am will need to wait inside Kid’s Stuff with a parent or guardian until an RDV Team Member or a Manager on Duty is available to take the child to their designated camp area. RDV Policy requires photo identification to pick up a child from camp. Any person authorized to pick up a camper must be at least 18 years of age or older, and must show a photo ID.

Extended Day in Kid’s Stuff

Mini Campers ages 3-6yrs: until 3:00pm for $12/day or $35/session. Campers ages 6-12yrs: 8:00am-9:00am and from 3:00pm-6:00pm for $15/day or $45/session. Children not picked up by 1:15pm from Mini Camp or 3:15pm from any of the other camps will be checked into Kid’s Stuff and charged the daily rate for Extended Care. Extended day campers will check in/out through Kid’s Stuff in the RDV Sportsplex Athletic Club.

Cancellation Policy

For a session refund, cancellations must be in writing and received at least two weeks prior to the start date of that particular camp session.

Staff

Our camp counselors are hired for their enthusiasm, patience, and their experience working with children. They demonstrate passion and excellence in sports and recreation. All of our counselors are CPR/First Aid certified and have undergone background checks and drug testing. Our aquatics team is also certified in American Red Cross Lifeguarding and Water Safety Instruction.
